The Cairns Business Women's Club was launched in October 1984, and continues to bring business women together to offer mutual support, inspiration, advice and assistance through its monthly lunches and annual awards. In recent years, the Club has matured and evolved into a professional body of like-minded women who understand the power of networking and sharing business experiences.
The annual Cairns Business Women of the Year Awards recognize the talents and achievements of women in private enterprise and public service who are committed to success in all aspects of business. These awards have become a badge of honour throughout the business community and the number of women being nominated has increased substantially over recent years.
The Club has also attracted a 15% - 20% increase in membership per annum in recent years, mainly because of the professional approach taken to the Club's activities. Each month, the Committee arranges tangible networking opportunities, stimulating guest speakers, and a fun, informal lunch for its members. Sponsorships are sought, and fund raising activities are conducted to support the annual awards, but the Club remains non-profit making.
The Cairns Business Women's Club is a credible and practical business 'tool', and every business woman in Cairns is encouraged to join and contribute to its growth and well-being.
