Constitutional Objectives
- To promote a united forum of women working together for the greater acceptance and recognition of women in the business community, whether in private enterprise or public service.
- To offer mutual support, inspiration and professional development opportunities to women in business.
- To conduct networking activities for the benefit of members.
- To raise the profile of women in business by holding the Annual CBWC Business Woman of the Year Awards.
- To cooperate with other bodies and associations which, in the opinion of the management committee, will assist in furthering the aims of the Club.
- To be non-profit making, non-political, non-sectarian, non-racist and non-sexist.
To fulfil its objectives, the Club concentrates its activities in the following areas:
Networking Luncheons
The Club holds monthly networking lunches at different venues around Cairns, and regularly attracts 150-200 members and guests to each lunch. Non-members are always welcome. The informal lunches are a great opportunity to meet and interact with other like-minded members, listen to an impressive line up of local and interstate speakers, and walk away with one of the many great raffle prizes donated by local businesses. For further information on the Club's events, see our Events section.
Networking Events
In addition to the monthly networking luncheons, the CBWC holds many other networking and educational programs throughout the year, including events organised with other Organisations and Associations.
The networking events include Business and Bubbles; and the Great Debate. Educational Programs offered by the CBWC include the Business Education Series; online training opportunities and a variety of mentoring programs.
Memberships
The Club has achieved a 15-20% increase in membership per annum in recent years and attracts members from a broad range of corporate, commercial and public service industries. For full details on conditions of membership and the benefits of becoming a member, see our Membership page.
Sponsorships
The Cairns Business Women's Club attracts one of the most impressive line up of sponsors who generously contribute to the lunches and annual awards. Lunch sponsors enable the club to attract dynamic and stimulating speakers, while the Award sponsors contribute to one of the most valuable prize pools handed out at professional awards, including national events. In return, Club sponsors enjoy a range of benefits. For more details on Club Sponsorship, see our Sponsorship page.
Annual Awards
The Cairns Business Women's Club Awards started in 1985 and have now become one of the most recognized and sought after ‘badges of honour’ in the Cairns business community. Traditionally held in August, the awards include:
- Business Owner of the Year
- Small Business Owner of the Year
- Manager-in-Business Woman of the Year
- Young Female Entrepreneur of the Year

The number of women being nominated has increased substantially over recent years, which in turn generates greater awareness and media attention. More details on last year's awards are available on our Awards page.
